Born in Vermont in 1967, Kate True graduated from Wesleyan University in 1989 and received her MFA from New York University in 1995. Her work has been included in exhibitions in Massachusetts, Maine, Vermont, Illinois, Florida and New York, and featured in Her Mark 2010, published by Woman Made Gallery in Chicago. She received a Massachusetts Cultural Council grant for her work as an independent curator in 2007. She has completed more than fifty portrait commissions in the past ten years, and her work is in private collections in the US, Japan, Germany and the Netherlands. True currently lives and works in Boston with her three daughters.
